It also examines the historical development of Nakshatras, Panchanga and Indian systems of timekeeping, along with traditions such as Numerology, Vastu Shastra, Samudrika Shastra and Hastrekha.

Rather than presenting Jyotisha merely as a system of belief or prediction, this book approaches it as an important part of the history of Indian knowledge and its changing relationship with astronomy, mathematics, philosophy and culture.
